160 years of history,
one signature.

I applied without too many expectations, almost on tiptoe. The idea of becoming an Opinion Reader to mark the 160th anniversary of Il Sole 24 Ore felt wonderful, yet distant. A dream for someone who, like me, has always turned those pages with respect and passion, among figures, analysis and perspectives on a changing world.

Then, one day, an email arrived. The kind you read twice to be sure you have understood. And yet it was all true: I had been chosen as one of the project’s ambassadors. Pure emotion. A mix of pride and disbelief. Because Il Sole 24 Ore is a symbol, a point of reference. And knowing that I would be part, even for a fragment, of its story filled my heart.

I was invited to the photo shoot at the newspaper’s headquarters. A place that breathes authority, but also innovation. I met extraordinary people, passionate professionals and fellow Opinion Readers with whom a genuine rapport formed at once. Each with their own story, their own view of the world, their own voice to share.

And then the invitation to the official launch during the Trento Festival of Economics. Another deeply moving moment. To be there, among so much excellence in thought and journalism, was an honour hard to describe. I felt I belonged to something greater, part of a collective story that celebrates the value of expertise, curiosity and listening.

This experience gave me far more than I had imagined: professional satisfaction, of course, but also a great deal of gratitude. Because some opportunities arrive when you least expect them, and remind you how important it is to put yourself forward, even with humility.
