Succession and
governance.
Passing on with fairness and giving the family clear rules: succession planning, generational transfer and family governance to move across generations without fractures.
Every estate changes hands sooner or later. The difference is whether that transfer follows a design of yours or the default rules of inheritance law, which know nothing about your family. Succession and governance, as I practise it, is two jobs that belong together: settling in good time who receives what and with which safeguards, and giving the family shared rules for deciding once you are no longer in the room. The obstacle is rarely the will to pass things on; it is that nobody has ever put it in writing.
I start from a map: what you own, how it is held, what would happen today if you decided nothing. On that basis I model the scenarios — shares and reserved portions, the liquidity needed for taxes and equalisations, the balance between heirs and branches — and turn them into figures the family can discuss without technicalities. Then I build the architecture with you: gifts, family agreements, a will, insurance where it earns its place, and the governance — a family constitution, standing occasions for dialogue between generations — that holds the people together, not just the assets.
Responsibility for the design and its coordination is mine; responsibility for the deeds stays with those who sign them: wills, agreements and gifts are formalised with qualified notaries and lawyers, each within their own role. And because a succession almost always touches tax, property, business and protection, when it does I involve the professionals of my network and the reading widens to the direction of the Family Office: every deed is measured against the whole estate before it is signed. What remains is something few families have: your wishes written down and explained, with a method for rereading them together when life changes.
What stays out — by choice
- Reserved legal acts. I do not draft wills or family agreements and I do not execute gifts: those belong to notaries and lawyers. I prepare the design; they give it legal form.
- Placing insurance policies. I am not an insurance intermediary and I receive no commission: if an insurance instrument enters the succession design, it is there only for the function it performs.
- Decisions made for the family. I do not choose who leads the business or how assets are divided: I bring scenarios, figures and method, so the choice stays with the family — and lasts.
A transfer you have designed rather than the order the law applies where no choice was made: who receives what, and why, is set down in writing.
Balances measured, not assumed : shares, taxes and liquidity turned into figures before any deed is signed.
Rules before problems : family governance is written while it is not yet needed, so it works on the day it is.
What it includes
The transfer of wealth treated as a family project: six components, from the succession design to the rules that keep the generations together.
Succession planning
A map of what you own and how it would pass today, then the design: shares, safeguards and liquidity for taxes, set while the choice is still yours.
Generational transfer
Assets and business handed over in stages: roles, timing and settlements between heirs defined in advance, not in the urgency of an open succession.
Family governance
A family constitution and regular forums: who decides what, how one joins, how one exits — written while relations are still calm.
Agreements and instruments
Family agreements, gifts, wills, policies: I weigh the right combination with you and prepare the ground for the deeds of notaries and lawyers.
Next generation
Heirs prepared before the wealth they will receive: financial education, growing responsibility, a real voice in family decisions.
Philanthropy
Giving structured like the rest of the wealth: clear objectives, suitable instruments and continuity, so support outlasts any single donation.
The process
Listening
Your family as it really is: who is there, what you wish to pass on, which balances need protecting, which knots nobody has yet named.
Analysis
Assets, ownership and scenarios: what would happen today without a design — shares, taxes due and the liquidity that is missing.
Plan
The succession architecture put in writing: instruments, family rules and the steps towards the deeds, in the right order.
Monitoring
The design is updated at every event that matters: births, marriages, disposals, new rules. Wishes written years ago should be reread, not presumed.
